Clinical supervision provides a structured space for therapists to reflect on their practice, explore ethical dilemmas, and gain insights into their therapeutic approach

The Importance of Supervision:

Clinical supervision is crucial for the development and growth of therapists. It provides a structured opportunity for therapists to reflect on their clinical work, enhance their skills, and address any challenges. Supervision offers a supportive environment where therapists can receive feedback, guidance, and encouragement from experienced professionals. Through supervision, therapists gain valuable insights into their therapeutic approach, expand their knowledge base, and refine their clinical judgment. Moreover, supervision promotes adherence to ethical standards and best practices, ensuring that therapists provide effective and ethical care to their clients.

FAQ

How do you approach confidentiality in the supervisory relationship?

I follow BCACC`s code of ethics and adhere strictly to ethical guidelines and legal requirements regarding client confidentiality.

What qualifications and experience do you have as a clinical supervisor?

I have been in the mental health field for more than a decade and have worked as a registered counsellor in private practice since 2017. I hold a master’s degree in counselling psychology and have extensive experience working in clinical settings. I have training in a variety of modalities, such as IFS, EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, CSRT, and Compassionate Inquiry.

How often should I attend supervision sessions?

This depends on your personal goals and preferences. Some therapists like to meet with a supervisor monthly, while others prefer to schedule sessions only when needed.

Do you offer supervision to those who hold a master's degree from another country?

I have provided and continue to provide supervision to individuals who have received master`s level education outside Canada and require supervision hours to be registered in BC.

How do you support supervises in managing challenging cases?

Depending on the nature of the case and the supervisee`s needs, I usually discuss alternative interventions that can be used, explore the potential resistance in the therapeutic relationship, encourage the therapist to reflect on their own inner process, or offer additional resources.
