IFS Therapy in Vancouver

Have you ever felt like different parts of you are pulling in opposite directions? Maybe one part wants connection, while another urges you to shut down. Or perhaps you find yourself reacting strongly to certain triggers and wonder, "Where did that come from?" If this feels familiar, know that you're not alone and that healing is possible.

At Roya Counselling, we offer Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to help you gently explore these inner parts, foster self-compassion, and reconnect with your calm, centered Self.

What Is IFS Therapy?

IFS, or Internal Family Systems, is a transformative, evidence-based approach that sees the mind as made up of different "parts" each with its own voice, emotion, and story. These parts aren't "bad" or "broken" , they're often doing their best to protect us based on past experiences. The goal of IFS is to help you create a more harmonious relationship with these parts by connecting with your innate wisdom what we call the "Self."

We use IFS to support individuals who feel stuck in emotional cycles, struggle with self-criticism, or carry burdens from childhood. Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, or relationship challenges, IFS offers a compassionate and deeply respectful path forward.

Why Clients Choose IFS at Roya Counselling

Trauma-Informed & Compassionate

Many of our clients have experienced emotional neglect, family dysfunction, or chronic stress. IFS provides a safe framework to work with trauma without re-traumatizing. Our therapists are trained in IFS and also integrate EMDR and somatic approaches when helpful.

Years of Experience in Depression Treatment

We have years of experience in depression treatment, and we have helped many clients overcome their struggles and regain a sense of well-being. Our experience and expertise give us confidence and hope when working with clients who suffer from depression.

Rediscover Your Inner Calm

We believe every person has an unbreakable core of calm, clarity, and confidence. IFS helps you access that place, even when life feels overwhelming.

Healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about rediscovering what’s always been whole.“

How IFS Can Support You

IFS therapy is especially effective if you:

    • Feel “stuck” in self-defeating patterns
    • Struggle with inner conflict or self-criticism
    • Have difficulty trusting others or yourself
    • Experience emotional flashbacks or dysregulation
    • Want to develop more compassion for yourself and others

Together, we will gently explore the parts of you that carry pain, shame, or fear and create space for healing and transformation.
